~gorky's zygotic mynci can be directly translated as "dimwit reproductive monkey". welsh people have always sang to their own tune,
and gorky's tune is brilliant. one thing i think is cool is that there are 2 members in the band named euros. part psychedelic, part folk, part rock, part experimental. all great.
~dave carter's ethereal spirit tingles my spine whenever i hear his songs. he has now truly crossed over to the dreamworld, where
i'm sure his songs were made. i saw tracy grammer at the alladin a few weeks back, and she is doing a wonderful job of carrying on the mythical essence that dave's music brought to our world.
~i recently stumbled upon death cab for cutie's music and have consistently kept their songs on rotation since. they have a sweet but intelligent
way of expressing candy-coated truths about daily lives. singing about office machines and photobooths has never sounded so beautiful.
~beck is a paradox siphoned through a tubular riddle swirling through a funnel-shaped conundrum. you would never know it was him if you heard "he's a
mighty good leader" and the other more southern, folky bits on this compilation with various NW indie superstars.
~again, doug martsch in his element back in the 90's with the halo benders. "virginia reel around the fountain" discusses the profoundness of our navels,
and urges a dance with the farmer's daughter. and it rocks.
